We are the Champions

Undoubtedly.... Aussies have been the dominating in cricket for sometime now but they are not the CHAMPIONS, they are the team everyone wants to beat. Read the words carefully "THEY ARE THE TEAM EVERY ONE WANTS TO BEAT" and not "Every one wanna Emulate". Why??

Because when you are champions there are added responsibilities on you than just to stay at the top. You are looked by the young kids and they aspire to be you or be part of you someday.

Thats why Michael Jordan,Micheal Schumacher have been such GREAT champions and Ambassodar's for their sports. But unfortunately the same can not be said of the Aussie cricket team.

You would argue that I am comparing Individuals to a Team but then Cricket is more of a TEAM game than any other game, except Football I guess and there you would find a WORTHY CHAMPIONS in name of "BRAZIL".

Why is there this difference then? It is because the spirit in which they play the game. Till the time things go in their favor they love and it and when they don't then its better that the KIDS stop watching the game.

Aussies have long been of the attitude that Umpires are there to make a decision and so why should they walk, then their VICE CAPTAIN ADAM GILCHRIST one FINE Morning got a INNER CONSCIOUS to WALK ; if he was out. It was ok if he kept it to himself about that but he expected the opposition batsman to do the same and if they didn't, they would get a speech on it till the time they were on the crease When his own team mates were doing otherwise. So I always wanted to ask where his INNER CONCIOUS was when he could appealed for a WRONG DECISION Ferociously. Tell me how can you say ok I will be Truthful when I bat and not so when I field or the Other way round (Ricky Ponting in case). If you are gonna be truthful you got to be 100% everything you do in the game has to be fair and not as per your convienece in that case it is very hard to have TRUST in you.

Aussies have been long known for their BANTER on the field, but when the opposition start the same AUSSIES feel OFFENDED and RACIAL.

To be champions you should be above all this. For you the sport should matter all that it is and nothing else. Your game should be such that the SPIRIT of the SPORT is enhanced and more and more people should like their KIDS to emulate you in that sport. But I am sorry to say no Parent in this world would like their child to EMULATE the Aussie behavior on field. So Aussies have to decide something do they wanna remember as a DOMINATING Team or a Champion TEAM, coz if they want the latter they would wanna look at their attitudes first

Playing God

Match officials have always tended to "Play GOD" in any sport. Hence it is often good to have as least number of officials as possible officiating on a match. The less the number of people to judge the other people better it is for the sport.

There was this PHL (premier Hockey League) match I was watching and one team Orissa Stellars scored a jaffer of a field goal only to be disallowed by the refree while the replays clearly suggested otherwise. The game was halted for 5-7 minutes and even the Leagues Technical Director suggested to the Refree to go to the Third Umpire but to no avail. Another instance that comes to mind is of STEVE Bucknor and his relectance to give decisions in favour of INDIA, Indians have always been on the wrong side of Mr. Bucknor one would give anything to know the exact reason of his HATRED towards the Players of this country. One could just not forget the HeadMaster treatment he gave to Parthiv Patel on the famous India's tour to South Africa where the match refree thought he was not in the news so he handed over punishment to 7 Indian Players, whereas the Truth was far from what was potrayed by the Gentlemen Governing the game. Refree should always remember that Rules are there for their guidance and they should judge the situation and then use them instead of BLANKLY going by the BOOK. They are there to INTRPRET the RULES and not ENFORCE the rules they should remember.

Another instance of refreeing comes to mind, I dont remember the refree's name but he was famous for giving Penalties in the ManU games and most of the times in favour of the mentioned team.

So why does this happen, why do officials try and show again and again that on field they are GOD to the players. One can understand if a refree makes a mistake, afterall he is also Human and make mistake. But the problem arises when there is a pattern to the mistake, because then it is no longer a mistake it is SELF EGO that is imposed on the players.

The highest governing body of any sport should remember that they need to look at the performances of the GENTLEMEN looking after their sport time and again because its not only a team that is suffering because of this but the sport as a whole, because one RED CARD, one WRONG Decision at a crucial juncture of a game can ruin the whole game/Series for that matter.

I have heard a lot that decisions balance them out in the eventually when the carrer of the player is over. You tell me a decision to give Mr. Symmonds out (Correct Decision) when he was 20 something and team score 165/6 or something close to that, that would have been 7th wicket and who knows under that pressure could Mr. Hogg and Mr. Lee performed, or a Would a wrong decison with Mr Symmonds on 160 odd and team score near 500, you would argue that it balanced out that he got a decision in hisfavour and one against him.
But in fact the DAMAGE that decision has made to the game is irreparable. So one should not go by that logic when it comes to defending the Umpires when they give wrong decisons.

Everyone agrees that there would be mistakes but eveybody cry when there are BLUNDERS.

So Every Refree whenever he walks into to judge anything should remember people will forgive him if he makes mistake because he is not GOD but try and NOT PLAY GOD on the field
